He is notable for his bibliographic work, cataloging old manuscripts and books, and laying the groundwork for the Hebrew collection at the Library of Congress. A strongly opinionated man, Deinard wrote more than fifty of his own books as well, often pseudonymously, on a broad range of topics such as travel, biography, history, and religion.
